Introducing TD Basilica Typeface

In 2023, we were honored to release TD Sulog as our gift to the Santo Niño. What began as a simple act of devotion became something far greater than we had ever imagined. The typeface found its way into the hands of devotees, organizations, businesses, brands, and creatives, becoming part of how the community expresses its love for the Señor Santo Niño and celebrates the Sinulog Fiesta.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who embraced TD Sulog and to those who offered donations nga kinasingkasing. Your generosity and support have made this journey even more meaningful.

Over time, as devotees ourselves, we began to notice something that had been part of the church for generations: the historic lettering above the main entrance of the Basilica Minore del Santo Niño de Cebu. These letterforms, which have adorned the church’s façade for many years, possess a distinct visual character deeply connected to the history and identity of this sacred place.

We began to ask ourselves: What if we could preserve these historic letterforms in a digital typeface that people could use, appreciate, and carry forward for generations to come?

That question became the inspiration for our next project.

Our vision is simple: to reinterpret these historic letterforms into a digital typeface that can be used in print and digital materials, including those created for the Basilica Minore del Santo Niño de Cebu. And just like TD Sulog, we intend to make it available for everyone to download and use.

Today, we are honored to introduce TD Basilica—a typeface born from observation, shaped by design, and inspired by devotion.

This project also comes to life through the collaboration of Jegi and Lorraine, who helped us showcase the typeface through their mockups. We chose to work with them because of their shared appreciation for the Santo Niño and the Sinulog tradition.

From TD Sulog in 2023 to this new typeface, our intention remains the same: to give something meaningful back to the community, preserve a part of our visual heritage, and celebrate our enduring devotion to the Señor Santo Niño.

May these letterforms continue to tell a story of faith, heritage, and devotion for generations to come.
